Why I Got a Job

My parents, relatives, and colleagues were amazed at my desire to find a job so soon after returning from Australia. I guess it was because I needed it.

Not because I needed the money — I didn’t — but because I needed to keep myself occupied.

I was wooing a girl, and I needed to prepare myself for going into a relationship. I knew that if I wasn’t working when we went steady, the first few days — weeks even — were going to be awkward.

I wouldn’t have known what to do with myself, let alone what to do with her.
