Better to be the hunter

Imagine Dragon’s song Natural plays in the background. I’m singing to it.

That’s the price you pay
Leave behind your heart and cast away
Just another product of today
Rather be the hunter than the prey

Love this song.

But when I got to “rather be the hunter than the prey” my head gave a subliminal shake. Something didn’t feel right.

What if, I thought, it’s better to be hunted?

For some reason the thought of the “lonely” predator didn’t quite fit right with me. It was instead the images of a herd of some animal surrounding their old and weak, pushing back against the hunter, that came to mind.
