Here are some things you can do to fight depression:
Eat Omega-3 Rich Food
Have you been eating seafood lately? Research as shown that the omega-3 essential fatty acids found in fatty fish like salmon can improve depression levels; it can both help to prevent and cure depression.
Sleep to Heal
Also, have you ever given much thought to sleep? If you haven’t been remembering your dreams much lately, it might be due to lack of sleep. The amount of sleep one should get varies with the individual, and could be anywhere from five to nine hours. Most healthy sleepers remember their dreams.
If you don’t wake up feeling refreshed or are tired throughout the day, chances are, you are not getting enough sleep. If you work shifts or tend to have irregular hours, that will create bad sleep too. If you can, keep to normal shifts.
Sleeping should be done on a regular basis, sleeping times and waking times should be approximately the same every day in order for you body to adapt. People who sleep irregular hours tend to have bad nights sleep as they are working against their biological clock.
Waking up depressed
I used to feel horribly depressed (especially in recent months). I used to sleep anywhere from 11 PM to 2 AM and wake at about 6 AM. Then I started taking a little fish-oil with muli-vitamins (in capsule form) and sleeping regular hours, from 10 PM to 6 AM (I found my ideal sleeping time to be eight hours).
The difference? Night and day! I used to be horribly depressed. I hated work, hated school, hated authority. Now, all I hate is authority. Feeling much better of late, and I’m starting to enjoy life more.
Not Ready for Change?
Just try sleeping regular hours, find out your natural sleep time (five to nine hours). When was the last time you felt you had a great night’s sleep? Think back to that time and recall how many hours you needed. It’s not easy, but it’d be worth it in the long run.
Just give it a week and see how it goes. I guarantee you’ll feel better.If it doesn’t work, berate me! Scold me! By the way, the body repairs itself best if you start sleep anytime from 6 PM to 10 PM; the time you wake up doesn’t really affect the healing.
Sleep is as important to your health as breathing. If you say that you have no time to sleep, ask yourself: quality, or quantity? Live a fuller life, in reality and in dreamland… I hope you choose quality.
