I just like to say thank you to Skype for reversing my order! Though it took a day longer than I would have liked (every hour felt like an eternity), my wrongful purchase of a service I hadn't quite wanted was finally reversed. Great service overall; and I'm one happy camper. 🙂
A Perspective on Death
I'd always wondered what it was like to die. I had dreams where I did; I'd wake up with my heart racing, hands ice-cold and slightly trembling. Then I'd soon realise it was only a dream and, intoxicated with relief I'd smile, thinking how wonderful it was to be given a second chance at life.... Continue Reading →
My Quest for Humility
I sometimes sit in front of my computer, staring at the screen; hands on keyboard, unmoving; mind thinking, recalling past personal literary successes, I wish I could write beautifully again. I'd log onto Facebook, learn2type.com or perhaps powertyping.com and do their typing tests, pretending -- wishing -- the words I typed spewed from my own... Continue Reading →
Unemployment
I stumbled across this rather cute picture over at unemploymentality.com. It's the truth behind the picture that makes it just oh-so-funny.
The Loving Game
Today the balloting results are out ger ger! I hope we win! Update: We didn't win... the good news is that in a year's time we'll be up for a $5,000 government grant when we apply. Until then, loving you always ger ger!
Grade Inflation in University?

For example, a "C" grade, he says, should be taken to mean an "F". Though I do have an intuitive belief that grades are going up... Continue Reading →
A penny for your thoughts
"A penny for your thoughts," I said. "Hmm," I thought out loud, "if I had a penny every time I said that..." I paused to think through all the times I used this oft-used phrase. "I think I'd have two cents."
Labour Day
"Clive needs you to do this on Saturday," she said. "But..." I paused. I didn't work on Saturdays. It was painful, hearing this. It felt like I was back in the army again, unexpectedly being recalled back for duty. Then suddenly, without much thought, I told her, "No, he doesn't." And I got up from... Continue Reading →
Giving Up My Seat
I take a train home from work every workday, from HarbourFront to Kovan. Taking the train from HarbourFront, being the final stop on the NEL (North-East Line), I am almost guaranteed a seat. You'd think this was a good thing; I know I did. But lately I've been questioning the value that sitting gave me.... Continue Reading →
Think. Wisely.
From John Locke: To think often and never to retain it so much as one moment is a very useless sort of thinking; and the soul in such a state of thinking does very little if at all excel that of a looking-glass, which constantly receives variety of images or ideas but retains none; they...
